Elementary

At Valor Elementary, we believe every child is made in God’s image, ready to explore, create, and make a difference in the world around them. We see our young students as unique individuals, each with a purpose that extends beyond the classroom, called to live out Christ’s commands with courage and creativity. From turning pumpkins into units of measurement, to nurturing skills in reading and math, our focus is on fostering foundational skills and inspiring a love for learning about God’s creation. Our dedicated teachers understand that we don’t just teach curriculum—we teach children, using curriculum as a tool to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage grit. With the bulk of our instructional time devoted to essential skills in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, our Elementary program lays a strong groundwork that prepares each student for wherever God may lead them. We love to augment with science, history, art, spanish, music and more.  As a fully accredited school through Cognia, our Valor Elementary is committed to continuous improvement, ensuring every child receives a well-rounded, faith-centered education that supports their growth, learning, and discovery.

(with Optional Afternoon enrichment Program):

Designed to complement our morning Pre-K class, this program provides a smooth transition into an enriching afternoon, starting with lunch, recess, and a restful recharge period. The afternoon is packed with engaging, educational activities like art projects, crafts, STEM explorations, and creative building exercises—each crafted to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in a fun, interactive setting.

Our Valor Kindergarten program will be filled with fun and learning.  We are thrilled that the Lord has called us to be a part of our global community, where we will seek God’s truth, wisdom and love to impact the world for Christ! Jesus will be at the center of all we do, so every day will be full of love and adventure.

God created us all unique in love and to serve as the varying parts of the body of Christ.  Our class will celebrate our differences and adjust strategies to meet the needs of each child. Our time in kindergarten will be spent in reading and writing workshops where we will grow our skills in learning our letters, sounds, reading, spelling, and handwriting too. We will use the top rate Handwriting without Tears to promote fun learning and writing. To support our workshop model, we use a combination of best practices from Balanced Literacy and the Science of Reading. A great mix of workshops and strong phonics work will mean your child greats a strong introduction to language arts. We will also be integrating Science and Social Studies into what we are learning. We will spend our afternoons with Bible, Bridges  Mathematics, Music, Art, Physical Education, and Computer Science. We are excited to have a year full of learning and working with each child to help them reach their fullest potential.

First grade will be an amazing year as we look at God’s word and use it to understand the world around us.  Our classroom will be focusing on having students learn about the many gifts that God has given to us including the ultimate gift of Jesus Christ. We will also be working on learning about the life of Moses through the book of Exodus.

Academically, our math classes will focus on counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students will work on developing these skills using practice and modeling. In science, we will be focusing on how we see the world and the amazing phenomena we can observe with hands-on labs and great field trip experiences. We are excited to incorporate our science ideas into other class topics too including reading and writing. Students will start out the year building on their reading skills and by the end of the year we want to promote expert readers and working through chapter books. It should be a fun year full of learning and God’s word.

In second grade, the emphasis on phonics and reading will make this year truly remarkable as we delve into God’s word to gain insights into the world around us. Our classroom is dedicated to fostering an understanding of the myriad gifts bestowed upon us by God, with a particular focus on the profound gift of Jesus Christ. Additionally, we will embark on a journey to explore the past, looking at ancient Roman empires.

Academically, our math curriculum from Bridges Math, will encompass essential concepts such as counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students will actively engage in honing these skills through practical exercises and modeling. In the realm of science, our focus will be on unraveling the wonders of the world through hands-on labs and enriching field trip experiences. Excitingly, we plan to integrate scientific concepts into other subjects, particularly weaving them into the fabric of our reading and writing endeavors.

As we kick off the academic year, students will lay the foundation for robust reading skills. By year-end, our goal is to cultivate expert readers who confidently navigate through chapter books. Anticipate a year brimming with both learning and the wisdom found in God’s word, promising an exciting and enriching journey for all.

Third grade will be a wonderful year! During our year together, we will be focusing on our walk with God. Students will learn about Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and Daniel and how even though they faced rejection, they remained faithful. We will be using these individuals as inspiration for our own life and our personal walk with God.

Our third grade classroom will also foster an environment for creating an enthusiasm for reading! When students enter third grade we will work on reading to learn and also building an attitude of reading for enjoyment. Students will also be working on both multiplication and division in our math classes, building the necessary skills to support their math learning as they mature. Our history class will be covering US History with a Christian perspective as we walk our students through 400 years of amazing events. We will also incorporate music, art, technology, and PE into classes. It will be an exciting and fun year in third grade!

Fourth grade is an exciting year! We will be looking at our lives and how God can build them into castles that are monuments to His grace. Students will discover God’s redemptive love by studying the life of Christ and the ministry of Paul. We will then be applying this to our own lives and our personal walk with Jesus.

Academically, it will be a year full of learning and challenges. Students will be using Bridges Math to work on learning new concepts like geometry with spatial relationships and readiness for algebraic reasoning. Reading and writing will be a big focus in our classroom this year. We will be working on how to write fiction stories with believable characters. We will also be working on personal and persuasive essays, where students learn how to organize their writing and gather evidences to form and express opinions on topics. We will then apply our writing into our history topics about the United States as we learn about the founding fathers and how we have developed as a nation. Overall, it will be a great year in fourth grade!

Fifth grade is an exciting year and will be a year of growth both academically and emotionally for our students. We want to challenge the students academically but also to help them grow as learners. By the end of the year, we want to develop them into a group of strong leaders who love Jesus and purse him wholeheartedly. A few examples can be reflected in our classroom leading ‘reading buddies’ with each Elementary class, leading Family Chapel and aiding in the classrooms. We will also be going on several local mission trips to serve within our community.

In the classroom, we will be learning knowledge and skills to prepare the students for sixth grade. Practicing typing skills, developing educated opinions, working in literature groups, expanding note-taking skills, and improving research techniques are just a few of the skills that we intend to explore and enhance during our year together in fifth grade. It will be an exciting year full of growth for our fifth grade students!
